Warriors Compete in the Long Beach Open
The Westcliff track and field team traveled just up the 405 to the Long Beach Open last weekend.
The Warriors continued with another solid showing to their season with Abelardo Rendon spearheading the group.
Rendon participated in the men's high jump placing in first place out of 11 total participants.
Rendon came out on top clearing 1.85m with second place coming in at 1.80m.
Multitalented Olivia Pino took her shot in two events, the women's shot put and the javelin throw.
Pino placed second in the javelin throw with a distance of 34.69m, 1m shy of first place.
Pino threw a distance of 9.32m in the shot put which would get her 12th of 20 participants.
Aidan Wahl got sixth in the men's javelin throw with a distance of 43.94m
Last but not least, Alexandro Villegas competed in the men's triple jump and placed 12th with a distance of 11.92m.
Villegas also competed in the men's long jump and got a mark of 4.96m.
Up next, the Warriors will turn their attention to the UC San Diego Collegiate Challenge that will take place this coming weekend, Saturday, March 11th.
The event will kick off at 9 AM.
The Warriors will next compete in Irvine, Saturday, March 25th in the Team 4 Titus and Ely event.
