Taylor Stacy Finishes Top of the Field; Jordy Collins Podiums

Westcliff Surf has begun its 2024-2025 season. Warriors have a lot of competition this season hitting the waves once every month on their way to state and eventually nationals.
Warriors headed down south to Black Beach San Diego for their 1st competition of the season. A lot of standout performances from new warrior surfer Taylor Stacy finishing 1st in the women's shortboard.
Most impressive was posting a perfect 10 run in the 2nd round of the competition. Jordy Collins was another standout making his way all the way to the final round finishing 3rd on the podium for the first NSSA competition of the season.
Coaches' Notes
"Westcliff did great at the competition overall. We had a few tough losses as well as some massive results by a few individuals. Overall we finished 5th out of 30 teams and were not too many points shy of 3rd. Taylor Stacy and Jordy Collins were both our top surfers in this competition.
Taylor Stacy won Women's shortboard!! Out of 53 athletes! Jordy Collins finished 3rd in Men's shortboard! Out of 120 surfers.
Day 1 was small but still provided some fun waves on offer in the waist-chest high range. Day 2 was EPIC!! Blacks provided clean overhead waves all day for the surfers and they went off.
Taylor Stacy got excellent scores on her backhand all event. She even dropped a perfect 10 pt ride (only one of the entire event) on a solid left hand wave. She dropped in and came off the bottom and absolutely belted the lip!
She came out of the white water a few seconds later and the crowd erupted on the beach. It was unreal. One of the best turns I have witnessed from a Female surfer in a competition
I thought overall the team did great. We had a few tough losses in the first and second round but Taylor and Jordy led the charge and held it down for the team by winning and making the finals in their divisions.
Jordy has been named our captain this year and continuous to make finals event after event with his excellent surfing and experience in competitive surfing. It's great to watch him support the team as well as everyone looks up to Jordy!
The team vibe was epic and everyone was on the sand supporting one another from sun up to sun down. This group has become a family and it shows. Onto ventura next week! It's on!" - Head Coach Lucas Taub
