Warriors drop series to the Golden Eagles

Westcliff went up to La Sierra for a 4 game series. Westcliff won the first game 7-1 but fell to the Eagles in the next three games. Games 3 and 4 both saw the Eagles get the win in walk off fashion. Standout Performances from the team came from Game 1 Starting Pitcher Shawn Hepler who went 6.2 Innings giving up 0 runs and earned the win for the Warriors. Game 2 saw the Warriors fight back down by 5 runs to tie the game 9-9 from Evan Rocha that hit Two Home Runs in this contest. Westcliff lost the series 1-3. Westcliff will look to bounce back against Saint Katherine later this week.

Coaches' Notes

Coach Shermet on Game 1 and 2, "Game one starting pitcher Shawn Hepler pitched a great game going 6 2/3 innings giving up no runs. He controlled the game the entire time. Our defense was stellar as we turned three double plays. Everyone contributed and we got clutch two out hits from Joe DeFrancisco, Trey Harmon and Keith Hale. Shortstop Raul Gonzalez pitched the ninth inning.

Game two we fell behind 5-0 after the first inning. But in true Warrior fashion, we fought all the way back to tie it at 9-9 in the ninth inning. Designated Hitter Lorenzo Gonzalez had two key hits including a run scoring triple and Right Fielder Evan Rocha hit two home runs, the second a two run home run, tied the game in the ninth inning. Third Baseman Danny Esqueda continues to play tight defense and is always in the middle of rallies."
