Warriors tune-up for regular season at CIU
By Brandon Petersen
Westcliff men's basketball took the floor for a preseason exhibition at Concordia Irvine Tuesday, using the opportunity to fine-tune rotations and evaluate early chemistry before the start of the regular season.
Lead assistant coach Lyneya Turner said the game offered valuable perspective heading into November.
"We got a wake-up call on things we need to work on collectively as a team," Turner said. "We would rather learn lessons in a win than a loss, but we will continue to build and get ready for our next opponent."
Turner noted standout performances from DJ Henry and D'montay Warner, both of whom showed promise in their preseason form.
"Before the next contest, we need to work on our energy and level of focus when it comes to the scout and executing," Turner said. "We lost the physical battle that is necessary to play with teams above our level."
No box score was available as of press time.
The Warriors will continue preparing for the regular season with two more exhibitions before a Nov. 7 contest with La Sierra.
