Freshman Pizza and Tuz produce stellar performances against #4 Vanguard

Westcliff Warriors faced down in their toughest opponent so far of the season with #4 Vanguard.

The match saw the Warriors drop 3-0 to Vanguard. 

However, that doesn't paint the full picture as it was a back and forth affair with the Warriors and Lions. Final Line Score: 22-25, 17-25, 18-25.

The Match started off with a bang from #8 Gabriel Pizza and from that moment led the Warriors in Kills with 12 against the Lions. 

Overall Pizza was dominant at the net recording 12 kills with 2 assists and 8 digs. 

Alongside Pizza, Pawel Tuz had a great performance recording 22 assists with 5 Kills and 1 Block at the setter position. 

Other standout performances from Andy Jaszcynski hitting for .357% with 6 Kills with 1 assist and 1 block.

Coaches Notes

"This matchup was great for us to see what we need to work on before we hit the conference part of our season. Freshman, Pawel Tuz our setter stood out performing with .571 kill % with 22 assists. Also Freshman, Gabriel Pizza 12 kills, 8 digs, 2 aces  and Sophomore Andy Jaszcynski - .357 kill % , 1 ace. Competing against #4 overall shows we have the pieces to compete at a high level, now it's time to straighten out the details to execute the wins."
 
Warriors will be going up North in the UC Slug Slam to take on #8 Menlo and UC Santa Cruz on Saturday game times 2:00pm and 4:30pm
