STILL ROLLIN'
No. 7 Warriors sweep Simpson, extend streak
By Brandon Petersen
The momentum isn't slowing down.
The No. 7-ranked Westcliff men's volleyball team continued its dominant run Saturday night, sweeping Simpson (25-21, 25-17, 25-19) to extend its winning streak and remain perfect in conference play.
Westcliff (16-4, 8-0) delivered another composed, efficient performance, controlling the match from start to finish and closing out a successful road trip with authority.
After a competitive opening set, the Warriors found their rhythm and steadily pulled away. Westcliff hit .356 as a team, recording 38 kills while limiting errors and applying consistent pressure across all three sets.
Gabriel Pizza led the attack with 14 kills, continuing to serve as the centerpiece of a balanced offensive effort. Tom Dempsey added six kills on an efficient .385 clip, while Rodolfo Biegelmeyer and Tiago Silva each contributed five.
Setter Nikos Kalagasidis once again orchestrated the offense at a high level, finishing with 29 assists while adding three service aces and three kills of his own.
Westcliff's depth and discipline proved to be the difference, particularly in the second and third sets, where the Warriors created separation through extended runs and clean execution.
Defensively, the Warriors held Simpson to a .260 hitting percentage and forced the Red Hawks into 15 service errors, limiting their ability to sustain momentum.
With the win, Westcliff pushes its conference record to a perfect 8-0 and continues to solidify its position atop the Cal Pac standings.
More importantly, the Warriors are playing their best volleyball of the season.
Now winners of nine straight matches and firmly entrenched in the national top 10, Westcliff has found a clear identity — efficient, balanced and unshaken — as it builds toward the postseason.
They're still rolling.
