Coach's Notes:
"Our focus is not winning, but our focus every game is on how we win and how we lose. You can "win" games you lose and "lose" games you win just by the effort and execution that's put forth. We started the game very slowly and not to our potential. Our effort wasn't there to start the game and it showed. Cal Maritime took advantage of that in the 1st quarter.
Our defense is what sets the tone for us usually and it picked up in the 2nd quarter and 2nd half limiting them to only 16 points in 3 quarters which is what translated to our offense giving us 39 points off of turnovers.
One thing to learn last night was we need to always have our effort, attitude, and energy in control at all times. This directly affects the outcome of the game and it's something that is in our control and nobody else's.
The 22 assists is a stat we're really happy about though, that's now 2 times in the last three games we've had more than 20 assists. I really like how we're sharing the ball and getting everyone involved. Last night, that led to us having 5 players in double figures.
I really liked seeing how our freshman,
Neyha Lali played last night! We know what she is capable of and she showed that on both sides of the ball. Her defense was tight and effective and her offense was very productive and efficient going 5-9 from the floor and 2-2 from the line.
We have some things to work on, but nothing that's not fixable. We have to be more efficient shooting from 3, we've been inconsistent there all season."
What's Next? Pacific Union was postponed so our next game is next Thursday the 27th at La Sierra.
