Riddle Solved: Vasquez Drops 28 on Eagles

Trinity Vasquez has made a solid argument for herself as the California Pacific Conference's most prolific offensive performer this season.

Sunday in the desert, Vasquez added an exclamation point to that claim with a brilliant 28-point effort that featured a perfect 14-of-14 showing at the charity stripe in leading Westcliff to its seventh Cal Pac win in eight tries, 52-49, at Embry-Riddle. 

"Numbers don't lie," Wetcliff assistant coach Mary Dishoian said. "Trin had a monster game tonight. She really does have ice in her veins. There is never a moment in a game where its too big for her. She will always want that last-second shot and the ball in her hands."

But it was more than a one-woman show Sunday. 

Bailey Hawkins, a double-double machine, went for nine points and 10 rebounds, while Sara Weber finished with eight and Laura Tapia had seven. 

"It was a great group effort," Dishoian said. "Bailey with the 10 boards, Lo, Ney, Sara and Remy with quality minutes to contribute to the W."

Coming off a 2-1 road trip, the Warriors have set themselves up for success heading down the stretch. 

Currently, the Warriors sit atop the Cal Pac South Division standings at 7-1. La Sierra is two losses behind, inlcuding a head-to-head setback against Westcliff. 

"We have to stay focused," Dishioan said. "Not only for the remainder of the schedule, but also the process in how to get to our end goal."

The Warriors face a tough test Thursday at JLaw, where the unbeaten (in Cal Pac play) UC Merced Bobcats will pay a visit. 

Tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
