TOUGH BATTLE
Warriors show heart on Pink Night despite setback to Simpson
By Brandon Petersen
The Westcliff women's volleyball team turned in a gritty performance Saturday night in front of a spirited Blue and Gold crowd in Huntington Beach, falling 3–1 to Simpson in a battle that carried meaning beyond the scoreboard.
It was Pink Night inside Golden West, as the Warriors took the court in pink jerseys to raise awareness for breast cancer — a cause close to the program's heart.
The night also doubled as Blue and Gold Night, with Westcliff's national champion cheerleaders performing at intermission and rallying the home crowd throughout the match.
On the court, Westcliff showed major progress after a narrow defeat the night before, capturing the third set 25–22 and pushing Simpson deep into each frame.
Joliayns Roman paced the Warriors with 12 kills on .323 hitting and added seven assists, while Stacy Folas tallied 12 kills and two solo blocks.
Samantha Carelock and Serena Comer chipped in 11 kills apiece, and libero Daniela Sandoval anchored the defense with a team-high 25 digs.
Setter Amanda Ferreira dished out 34 assists and added six digs in the effort.
Despite the loss, the Warriors' energy never waned, feeding off the crowd's support on a night built around unity, resilience, and awareness.
Up next, the Warriors (5–11, 0–2 Cal Pac) travel to NorCal for an Oct. 9th showdown with Pacific Union. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m.
