Westcliff Warriors hosted San Jose Spartans for a Saturday Night Lights matchup. The match was a high intense match with both teams going back and forth. Westcliff started off the 1st period with a 3-0 lead holding the Spartans to 0 goals. 2nd Period was a little different as San Jose was able to bounce back and extend their lead heading into the half. Warriors were down 5-4 at halftime. The 3rd and 4th period were all Warriors. Westcliff held the Spartans to only 1 goal. Extending their win streak to 5 for the season. Standout Performers
Warriors hosted the Claremont College Cougars for their MCLA Home Opener. It was a raining day with a lot of downpour during competition. Warriors were in control the entire game. Holding the Cougars to 2 goals in the 1st half and 2 goals in the 2nd. Warriors struck first and from that point on never let off the gas. Warriors take the win 13-4. Westcliff also held it defensively with a lot of big time saves from Tyrese Findlay with 13 saves in goal. Offensively saw a total of 6 Warriors grab goals for Westcliff. Joel Subahwon led the team with 4 goals and 2 assists. George Ogik followed Subahwon with 3 goals and 2 assists on his way being granted the game ball from Head Coach Mike Song. Colby Allen grabbed 2 goals with an Assist. Jesse Robinson also earned 2 Goals. Shawn Carillo tied Ogik with 2 Assists and a solo goal. Juan Serna also earned a goal giving the Warriors total of 13 for the game. Defensively Avery Fye and Hunter Stocksick had standout performances on defense locking down shot attempts and limiting Claremont to 4 goals. Zach Souza was also impressive fighting for every ball in the face off circle. We talked to Head Coach Mike Song about the Team's performance in the contest. "These guys are incredible. We worked on a game plan all week, and they demonstrated they all can adapt and apply. On all 6 phases of the game, they executed precisely. We will have to continue adapting and developing, as we have some tough games coming up. Game ball went to George Ogik. Joel Subahwon showed some new moves that really impressed me, and because we had been working on them. Avery Fye and Hunter Stocksick had solid performances. We focused on skills and concepts that really fit in our game plan today.
